Lauri Markkanen has missed four out of the Utah Jazz‘s last five games due to a nagging hand injury. It doesn’t seem overly concerning, given how the official diagnosis is a left hand contusion, but it has been serious enough for the All-Star big man to be forced to sit out a handful of crucial games as the Jazz continue to chase a Play-In spot out in the West.
Well, Utah fans will be glad to know that all hope is not lost at this point. Markkanen is once again on the injury report for Sunday’s clash against the Brooklyn Nets, but it seems that there’s a good chance the 25-year-old will be available for the Jazz.
Lauri Markkanen injury status vs. Nets
After being ruled out more than 24 hours before Friday’s matchup against the Boston Celtics, Markkanen has now been given a considerable upgrade ahead of Sunday’s must-win game against the Nets. At this point, the Jazz have listed Markkanen as questionable to play. There’s still a big chance that he ends up watching from the sidelines again, but at the same time, it’s also possible that he’s able to return to the court for this big game.
Right now, the Jazz are 12th in the West with a 36-41 record. They are just 1.5 games behind the 10th-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder, so they still have a good shot at securing a Play-In spot in the conference. They will need to win Sunday’s game against the Nets, though, and having Lauri Markkanen in the lineup will definitely help their cause.
